Missouri: Mizzou begins search for new leader

Bite-sized higher ed news from a campus near you

The University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) has launched a search for its next chancellor, interim University of Missouri System President Mike Middleton announced Monday.

The previous chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin, stepped down in November 2015 amid student protests about the treatment of minorities on campus. Those protests at Mizzou sparked a wildfire of student protests that spread to more than 100 campuses within a few months.

Interim Chancellor Hank Foley has already entered his bid for the position (Jost, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 12/5).
