John Tannous serves as Director of Research Delivery with EAB. He has contributed to EAB’s research programs serving academic leaders, chief business officers, enrollment managers, heads of student affairs, senior alumni relations and development officers, university executives overseeing professional and adult education, and other leaders.
Over the last six years, he has supervised or contributed to 140+ research projects for EAB members. He has also presented or facilitated sessions for governing and foundation boards, presidential and provostial cabinets, and other leadership teams and faculty groups at 150+ campuses, including elite private research universities, state flagships, regional access-focused comprehensives, liberal arts colleges, tuition-dependent baccalaureates, and community colleges. He is a frequent presenter at a diverse array of multi-institution convenings and conferences.
He is particularly passionate about bringing rigor and granularity to the conduct of institution-level strategic planning; aligning market realities with institutional mission across undergraduate and graduate academic program development and strategies for enrollment, marketing, and finances; and refreshing the advancement playbook for alumni affairs, annual giving, and major and principal gifts for emerging Millennial and Generation X constituencies.
John has a B.A. from The Ohio State University, where his experience as a first-generation college student sparked his passion for the role of higher education in advancing social mobility and economic development. In his spare time, he has a been a pro bono consultant to local and national nonprofit organizations.
