Melanie Ho serves as Executive Director of EAB. She oversees 70 staff that provide best practice research and implementation support to more than 1000 college and university executives across North America, including presidents, provosts, chief business officers, and heads of advancement, student affairs, and online education.
In addition to directing EAB's work across the diverse set of issues facing higher education, Dr. Ho specializes in helping colleges and universities capture and grow market share in online, continuing, and professional education. In 2011, she spearheaded the firm’s launch of the COE Forum, a suite of resources and services focused on elevating market research, marketing and recruiting practices, and organizational model design in the online, adult, and working professional market.
Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Dr. Ho received her Ph.D. in English from UCLA, where she also chaired the board of directors of ASUCLA, the $75-million, self-supporting organization that operates the bookstores, restaurants, and trademarks and licensing at UCLA.
Dr. Ho also served on several faculty committees, including the Executive Committees of the College of Letters and Science and the English Department. She earned the Academic Senate’s Distinguished Teaching Award for her innovative instructional design, especially incorporating problem-based learning into the introductory literature curriculum.
Dr. Ho has published articles in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed. Her doctoral dissertation examined how the categorization of American fiction into "highbrow" versus "middlebrow" has been shaped by trends in higher education organization and academic culture.
