About Sara

Sara Brinegar is a Consultant in the Strategic Research division with EAB’s Academic Affairs Forum. Since joining EAB, she has researched diversity and inclusion in faculty recruitment and retention.


Prior to joining EAB, Dr. Brinegar was a fellow at Yale University’s European Studies Council and earned a Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her dissertation examined the role of oil politics in the formation of the Soviet Union, particularly in the South Caucasus. In addition to her doctoral degree, she holds an M.A. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, and a B.A. from Michigan State University in International Relations.
