Summary

As study abroad programs continue to evolve and involve a growing number of students and faculty, universities have begun to reconsider their risk management policies as they apply to study abroad programs. This brief examines governance processes and accountability systems that institutions have implemented to administer and review risk management issues related to study abroad programs. Also considered are the qualifications and preparation that universities require of faculty members who will be leading study abroad programs. Finally, the Council considers methods for tracking students abroad, as well as online resources for designing and implementing study abroad risk management policies.
