While accrediting bodies mandate regular assessment of academic departments, the program review process can take on a variety of forms. This report examines academic program review processes at six small to midsize private research universities, describes the internal and external procedures related to review, and outlines strategies to engage faculty in the creation of realistic and achievable goals.
