About the Webconference

As universities face increasingly constrained resources, academic leaders seek more effective strategies to help deans, chairs, and faculty members understand the broader budgetary picture and the financial consequences of their decision-making. Leading change requires significant efforts to educate faculty on the budgeting process and illustrate the trade-offs inherent in strategic decision-making. This webconference provides best practices for institutional leaders to broaden faculty members’ thinking beyond their own departments and adopt a longer-term view of institutional decision-making. In addition, this webconference explores how some institutions are measuring unit performance with standardized metrics that allow deans and chairs to interrogate data and make decisions more effectively.
