About the Diagnostic

Provosts and administrators are facing a rapid proliferation of multidisciplinary research initiatives on campus. Despite massive investments and significant senior leadership attention, many institutions are struggling to bring order to the typically unmanaged portfolio of centers and institutes.

Our recent study, Competing in the Era of Big Bets, profiles innovative approaches to reviewing and reorganizing existing centers, sustaining viable cross-school collaborations, building flexible support infrastructure, and establishing actionable evaluation criteria for multidisciplinary research.

The Multidisciplinary Research Diagnostic is a set of questions designed to help you determine your next steps in managing research portfolios and allocating resources to multidisciplinary initiatives.
