The importance of effective space management has increased dramatically as “doing more with less” has become a common refrain on campuses across the nation. Many administrators are now looking for ways to leverage underutilized capacity on campus.

But there are physical limitations to the ability to redeploy space where it is most needed. Excess space is often difficult to access because it is trapped in buildings or rooms that are slightly larger than they need to be, and reconfiguring space can obviously be expensive.
