While increased board pressure and the reality of a widening risk profile are driving overall industry interest in institutional risk management, university executives remain skeptical. Most executives have witnessed horror stories playing out at peer institutions. For example, when universities spend 18 to 24 months on risk assessments it results in an overwhelming hundred-fold risk register—far more risks than can be realistically addressed in a reasonable time period.
