A successful research enterprise depends on strong leadership, a robust administrative support structure, and an institutional culture that values and promotes research activity. This report profiles three master’s universities and the leaders, staff, and researchers that have contributed meaningfully to their research enterprises. In addition to detailing strategies for improving research quality, the report reviews steps that administrators have taken to build a research-oriented institutional culture.
