Why programs with stalled enrollment have the highest growth potential

Before investing in growth, test your programs' vital signs

If this year's enrollment pipelines are any indication, it is only becoming more challenging to grow undergraduate enrollment. To offset these challenges, enrollment managers (EMs) must move beyond high-level enrollment targets and focus on enrollment at the program level.

Most enrollment shops already report program-level enrollment data to academic leadership. However, progressive EMs manage growth strategically across the program portfolio by focusing on two imperatives:

  • Translating data to insight: Interpret program enrollment data into meaningful opportunities with prescribed action steps
  • Pinpointing programs with outsized growth potential: Identify programs with untapped enrollment potential as candidates for EM investment

To leverage enrollment data, institutions must engage academic leadership in recruitment and enrollment to surface programs with the strongest market opportunity.
