Summary

When developing and adhering to policies for student drug and alcohol use, administrators must enforce serious consequences for unsafe and illegal behavior while protecting student well-being and educating students in non-punitive ways. This report examines student drug and alcohol policies at several private universities, identifying the range of consequences for different drug-related student offenses. The report also identifies the structure of drug and alcohol policies, the intent and focus of policies, and the individuals responsible for enforcing policy violations.
