Campus newspapers help students learn essential skills and provide a physical marker of community, but many student publications struggle to remain solvent. This brief analyzes four student newspapers at mid-size public universities. It describes major expenses and revenue streams for contact newspapers, ways to support students through instruction and training, and strategies to secure funding through student activity fees.
