Reporting Faculty Workload

This report investigates the metrics administrators at university systems create and use to report faculty workload to the state legislature.

Key observations from our research

1. Define faculty workload by the number of credits or courses faculty teach per semester, and create metrics that reflect faculty workload in addition to teaching.

2. Require administrators at universities and colleges to report faculty workload annually.

3. Use faculty workload reports to observe trends in faculty workload and identity institutions that are outliers.
