Mercy College is a small private college in New York that has become a nationally recognized leader in higher education access for underrepresented populations. Mercy’s student body is comprised of 50% Hispanic and black students, 71% Pell recipients, and 43% first-generation students. Their mission is to help these students beat the odds and persist on a clear path to graduation.
However, Mercy leaders found that the path from enrollment to graduation was overwhelmingly confusing. Rajesh Kumar, the executive director of Mercy’s PACT mentoring program, recognized the need for additional support. By making the mobile advisor Guide available on campus, Mercy arms students with crucial tools and information to navigate the twists and turns of college with ease, setting them up for long-term success at the college.
